The View Point of Mount Bromo Sunrise

Like the previous information, we divided the Sunrise view point on Mount Bromo into 2 based on the location. Here is the explanation :

Top Location

The top location is the most ideal and best place to see the Mount Bromo sunrise and the natural scenery. This top location is Penanjakan Hill. Penanjakan Hill is a hill with height of 2,770 masl which is within the scope of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. This hill is often referred to as Penanjakan 1, its height above Mount Bromo is only 2,329 masl. From Penanjakan Hill, you will see a large sea of sand, Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, Mount Kursi and Mount Semeru in the distance

There are several locations as the view points for Mount Bromo, they are Penanjakan Peak, Prau Hill, Kingkong Hill and Cinta Hill. The most famous, best and highest is Peak Penanjakan. But we will explore these places in the separated article

Then, how do we go to the Penanjakan Hill? There are 2 ways, by Jeep 4WD and Trekking from the Seruni Hill

By Jeep 4WD

We can rent a Jeep 4WD for Mount Bromo Jeep Tour to take us to the view point at Penanjakan 1. Information on this jeep service is widely available on the internet, you don’t need to be confused. Or you can inform the hotel receptionist that you need a jeep for Mount Bromo Sunrise Tour Package. They will order the jeep for you

At 3 am, the Jeep will pick you up from the meeting point at the hotel. This Jeep 4WD will take you to Penanjakan 1 about 1 hour drive. The jeep driver will always monitor which sunrise view points are not crowded so you can enjoy the sunrise moment. If the Penanjakan Peak is crowded, the second alternative is Kingkong Hill, then Prau Hill. And the last alternative is Love Hill if all the view points are crowded with visitors

Please enjoy the sunrise moment at Penanjakan 1 and we will arrange your trip as well as possible. Don’t forget to remember the color of the jeep and also the jeep police number. There are so many jeeps in this view point area

After that, around 6-7 am, we leave Penanjakan 1 and continue our journey to the sea of sand. If there is no traffic jam, it will take us about 30 minutes to reach the jeep parking area

Trekking from Seruni Hill

If you don’t want to go by jeep to Penanjakan 1, you can do trekking from Bukit Seruni. Trekking Seruni Hill will lead to Kingkong Hill. We need about 2.5 hours from the starting point of the Seruni hill to the Kingkong Hill view point

So we suggest you to start your journey from the hotel around 1 am. We will take you to Seruni Point. From the parking area at Seruni Point, it will take you about 30 minutes to arrive at Seruni Point Sunrise View Point. You need a guide to accompany you to Kingkong Hill. From Seruni Sunrise view point at 2 am, arrived at Kingkong Hill around 4.30 am. You have time to prepare yourself to take the moment of Mount Bromo Sunrise View

After we finished the activities at Kingkong Hill, we returned to trekking to Seruni Hill until we arrived at the car park. Around 9 am, you will arrive back at the Bukit Seruni parking area. We will return to the hotel for breakfast, shower and continue the next activity

Bottom Location

In addition to the top location, the Bromo area also has a bottom location to see the sunrise. The bottom location is an alternative location to see the sunrise if the top location in Penanjakan 1 is full of tourists

There are 2 points at the bottom location that we use as sunrise view points, they are Metigen Hill and Seruni Hill. We will thoroughly explore Metigen Hill and Seruni Hill in separated articles. Please do not worry, we will release about Metigen and Seruni Hill soon

The good news is, you don’t need to rent a jeep to visit Metigen Hill or Seruni Hill. With your own vehicle, you can go directly to the Bukit Seruni parking area. But for Metigen Hill, you have to buy a Bromo entrance ticket because Metigen Hill is inside the National Park. Our advice, to visit Metigen Hill you should stay at a hotel in the National Park

From all the information we have written, the top location, Penanjakan 1 is still the best. The bottom location is only an alternative place if Penanjakan 1 is very crowded by tourists.
